Green jobs aren't everything. They singlehandedly wont save the economy. Green jobs just offer a new age way of being many of the same things we've done for years.

Can't agree with the analogy here... Mother Earth can only be nurtured by placing some regulation on human greed, and the (so-called) Free Market is no different.

Green jobs that are *truly* green, meaning they are integral to a sustainable future model of energy and resource use, will thrive; those that are based on selling hyped-up/overpriced "green" products by playing to people's guilt and fear, maybe not so much.

Quote: "The reason investors poured so much money into real estate speculation and opaque financial instruments is the lack of investment opportunities elsewhere"

This is untrue. Investors poured money into these areas because government policy sent signals to the market about the stability of these sectors. The same thing is happening with the green jobs movement. Unfortunately, we will see a repeat of what happened in Spain happen here in the States. Namely, for every 4 green jobs created, 9 are lost. (Source: http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=46453)

You can try to force the free market with policy, but you will only make things worse. Try to think of the free market the way Native Americans thought of Mother earth. Nurture it and thrive, fight it and be punished.
