Sustainable Flatbush began in 2007 by producing events (workshops, film screenings, etc.) based on input and participation from community residents and geared toward raising awareness and promoting discussion of sustainability topics in our Brooklyn neighborhood.

Our projects include sponsoring Central Brooklyn’s first electronics recycling event, creating a community garden where apartment dwellers can grow their own vegetables, and installing a temporary park in a parking space.

We collaborate with groundbreaking NYC environmental organizations such as Lower East Side Ecology Center, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Solar One, and Transportation Alternatives, to mobilize Flatbush and its residents toward a sustainable future.
