Governor Paterson and the New York State Legislature did a very green thing earlier this month.
State leaders updated the state’s most successful recycling program, our bottle deposit law, to include bottled waters.
Expanding New York’s bottle deposit law will remove billions of bottles from the waste stream, as well as our natural areas and parks, roadways and waters. It will also return most unclaimed deposits to New York State rather than bottlers and beverage giants.
