This Saturday, September 28, help us build a rainwater harvesting system for our Healing Herb Garden!
The great folks at Citizens Committee for NYC will conduct a workshop at our garden on how to design and construct a rainwater harvesting system, and you can join in the fun. This hands-on tutorial is offered as part of Citizens Committee’s DIY Green Blocks Workshops, generously sponsored by National Grid Foundation.

We are very excited to upgrade our garden’s rain harvesting capacity, which now consists of two barrels that collect rain but are not connected to a water source. Connecting our rainbarrels to the downspout of the small garage next to our garden will enable us to capture and store much more rainwater. This is good for our plants, reduces our use of municipal water, and improves water quality in the city’s waterways by helping to prevent Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs).
RSVP is required to participate in this Saturday’s workshop. To register, please contact Wilfredo at wflorentino@citizensnyc.org or 212-822-9568.
